Over 100 attendees gathered at Five Iron Golf in Shaker Heights on June 23 to celebrate the launch of the 2026 summer issue of Jstyle – an entertainment, arts and fashion magazine published by the Cleveland Jewish Publication Company.
Attendees donned blue-and-white clothing, wore beaded necklaces, sported headbands with a pair of Israeli flags waving from the top and had their cheeks dabbled with face paint as they celebrated Israel’s 78th Independence Day on April 22 at B’nai Jeshurun Congregation in Pepper Pike.
Growing up, Nomie Bental loved to dance. Whether it was ballet, jazz, or tap, from the time she was 3 years old it served as an escape for the young girl whose family moved from place to place often throughout her childhood. But it was an experience watching an Israeli dance troupe perform that shaped who she is today.
B’nai Jeshurun Congregation’s annual Tu b’Shevat seder has quickly become a staple at the synagogue in Pepper Pike and has become a meaningful way for congregants to celebrate the Jewish new year for trees
“Country line dancing is such a low barrier,” Bental said. “You come, it doesn’t matter if you’ve ever done dancing or if you know anything. You come and they put on a bunch of music. It’s easy steps.”
Although Ketzev encourages attendees to B.Y.O.B., “bring your own boots,” there will be no country line dances, just Israeli ones as Ketzev looks to foster a more prominent Jewish dance scene in Cleveland. |
